October 15, Sunday / Special Wine Tasting and Appetizers - Celebrate Autumn / Historic Besson Family Vineyards in Gilroy / 1:00 PM / $30.00 per person paid in advance / signup cut-off date is Oct 12

Mark on your calendar October 15th at 1:00 for a special wine tasting at the historic Besson Family Vineyards in Gilroy.  The family winery was founded in 1925; however, some of the grapes were planted in the 1900's. The hosts, James Fahey and Denise Besson, part of a five-generation tradition, will be providing a sampling of their wines, including a Grenache from a selection of grapes planted in 1910, a best-selling Chardonnay, a hearty big red table wine composed of Pinot Noir, with some Barbera and Zinfandel blended in, and a classic Syrah, which is a specialty of the Gilroy vinicultural region.  All of the wines we will sample are estate varietals. The specialty tasting will also include finger foods and of course, your favorite wines can be purchased at the vineyard.

The winery is located on Highway 152, at the stretch known as the Hecker Pass Highway, just on the outskirts of Gilroy and in the famed Gilroy wine-growing region, and appellation.  The lush rolling hills of the area are ideal for the many regional vineyards as well as enjoying the Autumn splendor of the Gilroy wine country and reconnecting with our IAHF members and friends who reside in the area.  A special thanks to Frank LoCicero for helping to connect the dots for this exciting event.   Saluti a tutti!  - Ken
