Historic Photo Collection 


Our photo collection recognizes prominent Italian Americans who, from the earliest of recorded time in Santa Clara County, have contributed significantly to its development through farming, various businesses, professions, community service, events, and organizations at least fifty years old.

Eligibility for inclusion in the photo collection is open to anybody with any degree of Italian blood. Some exceptions may be made regarding individuals who have made major contributions to the Italian community.

Anyone who has photos that can qualify for the Photo Collection can bring them to the Italian American Heritage Foundation office. Please include names, dates and locations. Only Santa Clara County photos will be accepted.

Photos can be donated or loaned to be copied. Photos should not be larger than 8x10. Any financial donation to offset the cost of preparing photos for exhibition will be appreciated. The expense will be $20.00 per photo.

The photo collection was started in 1961 by Professor John and Lonnie De Vincenzi. They donated 80 photos to the Italian American Heritage Foundation in 1985. The collection has expanded to 1,000 photos and newspaper articles.

On November 15, 1985 the Italian American Heritage Foundation celebrated the official exhibition opening of the photo collection which is on permanent display.
